Continued from 02. What do I have to know about the main page?

So you decided you want to start playing Travian? Great! But first you have to register an account. Registration is easy and best of all it's free!

To begin registration you should click on one of the Registration links at the Travian homepage and then choose a server to register on. The server at the top of the list will be the most recent one and is therefore the recommended server for you to start on. Once you have chosen a server to register on you will be taken to the registration page that will look something like the following:

I have labelled the steps because now I am going to talk you through how to register your account! Are you ready?

STEP 1: Come up with a name for your account! This name will be used to identify your account and will be visible to all other players in-game. Come up with something creative; your account name can be basically anything as long as it does not violate the game rules. You should not make this your real name. Your account name will need to be at least 3 characters in length.

STEP 2: Enter a valid email address for your account. The owner of the email address for an account is considered the real owner of the account; they have complete control over the account. If you do not have an email address then you can get one for free from providers like Windows Live (Hotmail), Yahoo! and Gmail. You can only register one account per email address per server (you are not allowed to own more than one account per server!).

STEP 3: Create a password for your account. You should choose a secure password for your account that cannot be guessed easily. A secure password should not be too short (it will need to be at least 4 characters in length) and should include numbers, other symbols and capital letters (passwords are case-sensitive). You are responsible for keeping your password safe!

STEP 4: For security reasons you need to type in the shown captcha in the box below the picture. In case you should not be able to read the picture shown you can request a new one.

STEP 5: You will need to agree to the terms and conditions, privacy policy and game rules to be allowed to play Travian. Even if you don't read them you are still legally bound by them (and you are very naughty if you do not read them!!!). It is very important to at least read the game rules. Additionally at this step you can choose to sign up for interesting (game related) news and game related information that will be sent to your email address occasionally.

Before you continue on to the next step your registration form should look something like mine:

STEP 6: Once you have filled out the registration form you can click on the Register button! Double check you haven't made any mistakes before you click on this button!

Once you have clicked on the Register button you will be taken to the following page:

As you can see an email is being/has been sent to your email address that will include the activation code needed before you can log in to your account. Now would be a good time to check your emails!

Sometimes there can be problems activating your account and for some reason you might not receive an email. Here are some possible reasons for why that might be:

• Sometimes it can take quite a while for the email to be sent to your email address; please be patient.
• You made a mistake when entering your email address in the registration form.
• The email could have been moved to your junk or spam email folder automatically by your provider. Make sure you check your junk/spam folder. The email will be sent from the address admin@travian.com.

If you have waited and waited but still have not received your registration email (and you have checked your junk/spam folder) then you can either click on "No email received?" (and request ot to be resent) or on "Change email address?" (to change the email address to another one; afterwards the activation email will be sent again to the new email address).

Once you have found and opened the email you can see that it contains your registration details and, most importantly, the activation link for your account. Click on the activation link in the email or manually copy the activation code into the activation page you were at earlier to activate your account!

As soon as you register your account you will be logged in to your account straight away. The first time you log in to your account you will be asked to choose the tribe you wish to play as (Romans, Teutons or Gauls):

This is very important as each tribe has its own advantages and disadvantages that you can see at this page. Gauls are the recommended tribe for new players because of their focus on defense and increased Cranny size (you can worry about that later!). Simply pick one of the three tribes by clicking on the representative for that tribe and then click on the Choose a tribe button.

Now you will come to the following page:

At this page you can choose which quadrant of the map you would like to start in. It does not matter much where you start when you are a new player, this is more for players who would like to be in the same area as their friends. Choose your starting position by clicking on one of the four quadrants on the map or by choosing from the drop-down menu and then click on the create village button.

And that's it, now you can start playing!

To log in to your account at a later time you can get to the login page from the Travian homepage. At the Travian homepage you will see the Login button at the top right of the page. When you click on that you will need to choose the same server to log in to that you registered for. At the login page you can log in by entering your account name or email address and your password. For easier access to the login page I recommend you add it to your browser's bookmarks!
